A broadly worked watercolour in which a yellow-green slope rises from the lower corner towards the middle, cut by blue-green shadows drawn with a wide brush. At the left stands a clump of very dark, almost black trees, while towards the right the ground dissolves into washes of diluted green and blue. The sky is a band of pink and orange allowed to run into the whites of the paper, which are left bare and stand for light. Contours are almost entirely absent: the forms arise from the wet edges of the washes, and a few quickly drawn reddish-brown strokes fix the foreground.
