Iarnă la Măgurele

A snow-covered plain, with a long wooded hill stretching across the full width in the middle distance: its crest is blue-grey, the leafless wood rendered in short vertical strokes over which the snow has settled, and its foot descends in white terraces. In the foreground the snow is an almost smooth surface, faintly blue in the shadows; out of it, at left and right, rise bunches of dry branches and bushes in red-brown and ochre — the only warm accents in the whole work. The sky fills the upper half and is an even grey field with barely visible traces of pink. Signed lower right.
