2001 · oil on canvas · 39 × 46 cm

A landscape seen from a height: a golden-ochre and brick-coloured ridge crosses the middle of the canvas, its crest marked by a row of dark, almost black bushes. In the foreground the ground descends in large plots treated in blue-green, turquoise, orange and brown, laid in broad oblique strokes like furrows. At the right a dark green slope closes the composition. The sky, the upper third, is a uniform cloudless pink-beige field against which the silhouette of a more distant hill can just be made out. The paint is thick and free, and the contrast between the calm of the sky and the agitation of the foreground is the main effect of the work.
