A chalky white hill occupies the centre of the canvas, its crest rounded and its foot covered with vegetation painted in cobalt blue, dark green and red accents in short dense strokes. At its base a row of white houses with brick-red roofs lines up on a strip of ochre ground, and two slender leafless trees rise at the left. The foreground is a stony bank broken into grey-white slabs, crossed by a thin taut line that reads as a cable or a handrail. The sky is bluish with long white clouds. The colour is vivid, and the white of the hill gathers all the light of the composition.
