A watercolour in which a house with a porch and a brick-red roof stands right of centre, its walls left almost as bare paper and its windows marked by two grey patches. Beside it, to the left, rise two conical yellow-ochre haystacks, and behind them a few tall dark green poplars are silhouetted against washed bluish hills. At the right a plank fence enters the frame. The foreground is a raw green meadow treated in wet patches. The technique alternates broad washes with firm dry-brush accents on the woodwork of the house; the light is that of a clear day, though the forms remain summary.
