Landscape at Pietriceaua
Peisaj la Pietriceaua
2004 · oil on canvas, 50 × 60 cm
A village lane seen frontally: a row of houses and barns with grey and red metal roofs lines up in the middle plane, behind a plank fence that crosses the whole canvas. In front stand two conical golden-ochre haystacks, and at the left a clump of dark green trees closes the composition. Beyond the village the hills fade into blue and green under a clear pale blue sky that fills nearly half the surface. The foreground is a broad pink-grey road. The light is clear and summery; the colour is calmer than in the 2002 works, and the forms return to legible contours.
