Acacias at Pietriceaua
Salcâmi la Pietriceaua
2006 · oil on canvas, 47 × 55 cm
Three acacias with slender brown trunks spread their broad crowns across the whole upper part of the canvas: the foliage is built from patches of blue-grey, silvery green, white and carmine accents, laid in short strokes that let the pink-beige sky show through. Below, a white plank fence crosses the canvas horizontally, and beyond it houses and yellow-green ground can be glimpsed. In the distance the hills fade into blue. The foreground is an orange-ochre strip. The warm sky and the cool crowns balance exactly; the motif is simple but the handling of colour is free.
