A low white house is barely visible among trunks and branches at the centre of the canvas; above it rises a compact mass of crowns painted in ochre, golden brown, olive green and red accents in broad knife-laid strokes. At the left a clump of almost black trees closes the composition; at the right the vegetation thins towards ochre ground. The sky above is a smooth cloudless beige-grey band. The foreground is reddish-brown earth with a few thin posts. The light is warm but muted, as at the end of the day; the colour is almost monochrome, held in the earths.
