The “Cucu” House in Brebu

A homestead seen from the yard: a white house with small blue windows and a roof that comes down almost to the ground occupies the centre; joined to it at the right is a reddish-brown wooden barn with a high gable and an open shed under which stacked logs can be seen. Above, the crowns of two trees open like a canopy, painted in blue-green, grey and cream in short strokes that let the pale sky show through. At the left a white plank fence and a leaning tree close the composition, and the foreground is trodden ochre-pink earth. The colour is held in grey-green and white, the brown of the barn being the only warm tone.
