The Old House at Breaza
Casa veche la Breaza
2007 · oil on canvas, 40 × 50 cm
The façade of an old house fills almost the whole canvas, seen frontally: five arched openings with white surrounds line up along a long porch, and within them doors and curtains can be made out in crimson, blue and ochre. The wooden rail with its vertical boards crosses the entire width, and the stone plinth is rendered in thick white and grey strokes. The grey-violet metal roof with red stripes spreads across the upper register; at the right the red roof of an outbuilding appears. The foreground is a green-brown yard. The light is clear, and the architecture is drawn with evident pleasure in detail.
