Country Road

A pale dirt road enters at the bottom edge and descends at the centre towards a village, bounded by reddish-brown banks. On either side stand two trees: a small one with a bluish crown at the left, a large one with a crown opening in green, grey and pink at the right. In the background the village is suggested by white patches of houses and by the silhouette of a twin-towered church, beyond which the hills fade into blue. The sky, the upper third, is a beige-grey field with a pink band. The brushwork is short and loaded, applied in adjacent patches; nothing is drawn, everything is built from colour laid directly.
