A still life set on a table covered with a brick-red drape and a white cloth. At the centre stands a bulbous white jug, flanked by a reddish-brown bottle with a handle and a long-necked ochre one; in front, a blue metal mug and a pink-grey wooden sphere anchor the composition. Behind rises a vessel with dry branches and blue leaves, and the background is divided into broad planes of golden ochre, cobalt and turquoise across which rapid black hatchings are drawn. The volumes are simplified to geometric forms, and the colour of the background matters as much as the objects.
