The Salt Spring and the Road to Podiac (Brebu)

A bank of white stone, layered in horizontal slabs, crosses the foreground from left to right, with dark fissures between the blocks and ochre and brick accents at its base. Above it runs a pale road bending to the right, and beyond rise dense clumps of trees painted in emerald, blue and crimson with short loaded strokes. At the left the hill climbs to a green crest with white rocks; the sky is blue-grey with long white clouds. The colour is more saturated than the motif demands, and the white stones of the foreground work like a keyboard of lights.
