An orchard of fruit trees in full blossom, seen from ground level. A large tree occupies the centre of the composition, its trunk bent and its crown spreading across the full width; behind it further rows of trees recede to the left, growing smaller. The blossom is built from thick patches of white and pink laid in short strokes, contrasting with the thinly spread green of the grass and with the ochre dirt track winding between the trunks. In the distance stand a few dark poplars and a line of bluish hills. The light is diffuse, that of an overcast sky — there are no marked shadows — and the grey-white sky takes up more than a third of the surface.
