2002 · oil on canvas · 50 × 60 cm
A sandy ochre shore descends from the upper left towards the middle of the canvas, with sharply cut earth terraces and two low houses with brick-red roofs almost on the edge of the bank. At the lower right the water spreads in deep turquoise blue, its waves breaking into a streak of white and violet foam along the beach. In the distance the shore narrows into a thin tongue running into the sea. The sky is a warm pink-grey field with bluish clouds dragged horizontally. The contrast between ochre and turquoise is the principal chord; the brushwork is broad and the forms reduced to a few simple planes.
