A composition seen vertically from above: at the centre an oval black pool with an almost opaque surface is ringed by an intense blue band and a second white one that detaches it from the rest. Around it the banks open in waves of emerald green, white, ochre and brown-violet, painted in broad strokes that follow the circle. At the upper left a reddish-brown mass closes the composition, and at the right a single carmine accent appears. The motif is recognisable as landscape — a pool among rocks — but the treatment pushes it towards abstraction: what matters is the rhythm of the concentric rings and the contrast between the black centre and the surrounding white.
