Priveliște de la Brebu
1994 · oil on canvas · 51.5 × 64 cm
A snow-covered hill seen across a wide valley: at the back rises a white-blue crest caught in fresh snow, under a cream sky almost without cloud. At its foot a band of slate-blue woodland closes off the village — only a few roofs and a thin line of red are hinted at. The near slope is divided into large plates of pink-grey, ochre and brick, and a red-brown path descends diagonally through the lower right corner. Two leafless trees stand alone on the ridge, their thin trunks and branches jerking upwards. The paint is thick, laid in broad slices; the colours stay muted — pink, blue-grey, ochre — and only the red of the houses and the road brings warmth. Signed lower right: I. Șinca / 94.
