Red Ravine
Râpă rosie
2011 · watercolour · 26 × 35 cm
A watercolour in which the lower half is taken up by the banks of a ravine, painted in reddish brown, ochre, brick and violet, with rounded forms overlapping like boulders; between them the white of the paper is left bare and stands for lit stones. A bright red accent appears at the upper right, on the lip of the ravine. Above, a blue-green band and a blue-grey one mark the distance, and the sky is a heavy violet-grey wash whose lower edge is allowed to run. The signature, year and title are written in pencil at the lower right.
