Two vases stand side by side on a table covered with a white cloth: one cobalt blue with a rounded body, the other ochre-green and cylindrical. From them rises a broad bouquet, with white violet-centred flowers at the right, carmine-pink and orange corollas at the centre, and wide green leaves falling heavily to the sides, beyond the frame. The background is a warm yellow-green surface applied in vertical strokes. The paint is thick and the brushwork broad; the contrast between the intense blue of the vase and the green of the ground matters as much as the flowers themselves.
