Summer Phantasm
Fantasma verii
2007 · oil on canvas, 65 × 80 cm
The summer counterpart of the previous work, built on the same scheme but in warm tones: a massive form of rock or thicket rises at the centre, painted in blue-grey, olive green, crimson and white in short dense strokes that make it look gritty. On either side the ground spreads in ochre, beige and pink, cut by long blue furrows. The sky, filling the upper third, is a smooth cloudless apricot-beige surface. The same absence of scale and detail as in "Winter Phantasm"; what changes is the temperature of the colour, not the structure of the composition.
